NSSO athletes, coaches/volunteers, families, caregivers and friends.
This is some basic information needed before this coming fall. And we do mean basic – unfortunately everything can be changed in the coming days, weeks or months.
First – we do hope and, at this time, plan on having both volleyball and bowling this fall.
Having said that – there are some things that have to be considered.
There is a lot that we still do not know or is seriously changeable. This includes guidelines that we will have to follow to offer sports. We hope to have all the current and available information to be sent out in a newsletter in August.
Most basic = SOWI (Special Olympics Wisconsin) will not be requiring vaccination for COVID-19 but SOWI and NSSO are highly recommending being vaccinated.
We will be following governmental guidelines, SOWI guidelines, and any guidelines required by our practice facilities. These are, of course and unfortunately, readily changed and could affect weekly practices. We will, as required, follow the most restrictive guidelines.
MEDICALS –quite a few athletes have medicals expiring soon – remember that you cannot practice without a current medical, so please make sure you get those done.
NEW FORMS – one time forms. There are two REQUIRED forms to be signed by all athletes AND coaches/volunteers. One is titled COVID-19 Participant Release Form, the second is titled Communicable Disease Participant Waiver. Yes, BOTH ARE REQUIRED BY ATHLETES AND COACHES/VOLUNTEERS (insurance requirement). No one will be allowed to participate without both on file.
Please return signed forms to: Linda Brothen, 3131 S. 77th St., Milwaukee, WI 53219
We do know that masks will be required for non-vaccinated persons and there are still limits for numbers and spacing – we will follow the guidelines when we start practices. It is likely that spectators will not be allowed.
Competition schedule will NOT be normal, but we don’t know the full details.
